DERYO

Derrick Youman, also known in the music business as Deryo, has been a vocalist, songwriter and producer since leaving college. His debut as a professional recording artist, was as a vocalist, producer, songwriter and musician. It took place under the Arista Records label, as a featured lead vocalist with Herbie Hancock and the Headhunters.(The album entitled “Straight From the Gate”.) Later on Deryo also performed on Bennie Maupin’s CD, “ Slow Traffic To The Right.” as well as with other artists.
After that, Deryo stretched his wings and started his own publishing company, entitled Deryo Music. Through his company, Deryo has had the pleasure of writing and publishing songs with other artists such as Two Tons of Fun and the late Rick James.
This new CD of Deryo’s, is for yesterday, today and tomorrows generation, that’ll have them dancing and singing along in ecstasy. This CD was also released under his new record label Will Records. "This new CD is a special one, that expresses the Confessions of myself, and many others”, said Deryo. "I hope it offers inspiration to everyone, as it has offered to me in the process of creating it."
The new CD is an eclectic set of grooves and rhythms, which command the body to move. Deryo’s Confessions is a heartfelt story, about one man’s quest for love and understanding, told in songs that soothe the soul and rock the body. The listener is taken on a journey from head bobbin beats, to finger-snapping ballads, guitar riffs, booming funky bass licks laid on top of groove popping drums, and melodic piano melodies that entice the listener to get up and dance.
